Viachata Earthquake ruins. in 1953 a devastating earthquake pretty much flattened the entire island of Kefalonia. To this day a number of abandoned villages are dotted around which are time capsules and a must visit. The buildings lay abandoned and untouched from the catastrophic event of 11th August 1953. This is Viachata, just outside of Sami. Do visit, as I say it's like stepping back in time 70years!
