1. Night Sky

Sky at Night

Look into the night sky and you look back in time. The sky at night is a vastness beyond comprehension, full of celestial objects like galaxies, stars, planets and the Moon. Gaze into a clear night sky and you get drawn into another world, a world as it was in the past. In this collection I am sharing my favourite night sky images and collections. All have been photographed in a natural environment and are real images. Many of my images tell a story, whether the subject matter or process of composition.
All photos captured with OM System.

Startrail with a couple of Leonids captured on the evening/morning of 16th/17th November 2009. Height of the Leonid meteor shower and disappointed only to capture a couple. Set up Olympus E3 with 7-14mm lens on tripod, 15s exposure, F4.0 and captured continuous from 2100hrs on 16th through till 0700hrs on 17th. 9 hrs of earths motion, 2000 images put together in startrails software. Nice to capture the opposite curvature of the trails above and below the celestial equator.
Star trail from 24 May 2009. Another clear night so best take opportunity while have it. Approx 1000 image captured from sunset on 24th to sunrise on 25th.
Startrail from May 23 2009. getting very close to full summer here with longest day not far away. Not good for long dark hours. Sun goes down about 10pm and getting light not much after 3am so only 4/5 hours of combined exposures. Over 1000 15s exposures using the Olympus E3 with 7-14mm lens, which really works best I have found for startrails, and put through startrails.de software.
