1. Night Sky

Sky at Night

Look into the night sky and you look back in time. The sky at night is a vastness beyond comprehension, full of celestial objects like galaxies, stars, planets and the Moon. Gaze into a clear night sky and you get drawn into another world, a world as it was in the past. In this collection I am sharing my favourite night sky images and collections. All have been photographed in a natural environment and are real images. Many of my images tell a story, whether the subject matter or process of composition.
All photos captured with OM System.

May 6 2010. British voters hit the polling stations, as does the ISS. The Polling Station in Walcote, Lutterworth, Leics had an visitor from outer space! The International Space Station (ISS) flew in to cast its vote, just at the right time. Quite a lucky capture to get it all coming together at the right time plus clear skies! The ISS is mega bright in the skies atm. It is the biggest, brightest object orbiting earth and only the sun and moon are brighter objects. It is as wide as a football field. Captured with Olympus E3 7-14mm lens.
May 03 2010. What a difference a contrail makes. The first clear skies since volcano airspace shutdown and doesn't it show! 6 hrs of 15s exposures stacked to produce a 'post' volcano startrail. Captured with Olympus E3, 12-60mm SWD lens.
International Space Station (ISS) captured above the UK skies on BH Monday 3 May 2010, 2146hrs passing. Super bright this evening. Captured with Olympus E3, 8mm fisheye, 5s exposures shot continuous though pass.
