1. Night Sky

Sky at Night

Look into the night sky and you look back in time. The sky at night is a vastness beyond comprehension, full of celestial objects like galaxies, stars, planets and the Moon. Gaze into a clear night sky and you get drawn into another world, a world as it was in the past. In this collection I am sharing my favourite night sky images and collections. All have been photographed in a natural environment and are real images. Many of my images tell a story, whether the subject matter or process of composition.
All photos captured with OM System.

May 23 2010. Incredibly clear skies and probably the clearest lunar shot I have captured with camera. Olympus E3, 90-250mm & x2 TC
May 16/17 2010. Another historic capture. Airspace was again closed overnight because of the volcanic ash problems across much of the UK. Just enough time to get an all night startrail. Captured with Olympus E3, 12-60mm lens. 12mm focal length, F2.8, 15s exposures from 2200hrs on 16th to 0400hrs on 17th. About 1000 images stacked to produce the final image. Slight cloud cover adding to the eerie effect.
May 09 2010. Startrail from a south/south east facing night sky. Bonus of 3 meteors from the Aquariids shower. Captured with Olympus E3, 12-60mm SWD lens. 15s exposures from 2200hrs on 9th through 0600hrs on 10th. Images stacked to produce the startrail.
