1. Night Sky

Sky at Night

Look into the night sky and you look back in time. The sky at night is a vastness beyond comprehension, full of celestial objects like galaxies, stars, planets and the Moon. Gaze into a clear night sky and you get drawn into another world, a world as it was in the past. In this collection I am sharing my favourite night sky images and collections. All have been photographed in a natural environment and are real images. Many of my images tell a story, whether the subject matter or process of composition.
All photos captured with OM System.

Volcanic ash still carpeting the UK and most of EU from the fallout and eruption of Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland. Flights continue to be grounded across the entire UK. Not all bad news ;-) Good opportunity for clutter free star trails. Captured on the early hours of April 18th. 3 hrs of continuous 15s exposures, stacked. Captured with Olympus E3, 12-60mm SWD lens.
Made a few nationals with this one. Volcanic ash still carpeting the UK and most of EU from the fallout and eruption of Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland. Flights continue to be grounded across the entire UK. Not all bad news ;-) Good opportunity for clutter free star trails. Captured on the evening/early hours of April 16/17th. 7 hrs of continuous 15s exposures, stacked. Note the purply tone and swollen light pollution, all compounded by the volcanic ash. Also a meteor top right :-) Captured with Olympus E3, 7-14mm SWD lens.
April 12 2011. 50 years ago this very day Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. This is my own fitting tribute to the 50th anniversary. Over 1300 images captured all night to produce this wonderful star trail. Happy Anniversary Yuri :-) Note the 2 meteor trails (at 2 & 7 o'clock), a nice bonus. The red/orange tinge is the result of clouds rolling in.
Captured with Olympus E5 and 12-60mm SWD, dew shield (to keep the moisture away) and stacked with startrails software.
