1. Night Sky

Sky at Night

Look into the night sky and you look back in time. The sky at night is a vastness beyond comprehension, full of celestial objects like galaxies, stars, planets and the Moon. Gaze into a clear night sky and you get drawn into another world, a world as it was in the past. In this collection I am sharing my favourite night sky images and collections. All have been photographed in a natural environment and are real images. Many of my images tell a story, whether the subject matter or process of composition.
All photos captured with OM System.

March 26th 2012. Venus (top), Jupiter and Crescent moon framed against the Low Spinney wind farm at Gilmorton, Leics. A magical rare moment in time with a super conjunction event, captured within 1 hr post sunset. Olympus E5, 12-60mm SWD. F4, 0.8s, ISO 250.
March 24/25th 2012. Venus, Jupiter, Crescent moon, stars, Celestial North Pole, Celestial Equator, ISS & Iridium Flare all in one shot. Can you spot them all :-) Not a bad nights work, which took 10 hrs worth of exposures to produce. Olympus E5 with 7-14mm wide angle on tripod capturing continuous 15s exposures (approx 2400 in total), F4, ISO 500. Stacked in StarStax software. Colours courteous of cloud rolling in and light pollution :-(
05 March 2012. Waxing Lenten moon. Nice clear skies and a nice sharp capture. The best I can get from a camera without a scope. Captured with Olympus E5, 90-250mm with x2TC. F5.6, 1/400, ISO 200
