1. Night Sky

Sky at Night

Look into the night sky and you look back in time. The sky at night is a vastness beyond comprehension, full of celestial objects like galaxies, stars, planets and the Moon. Gaze into a clear night sky and you get drawn into another world, a world as it was in the past. In this collection I am sharing my favourite night sky images and collections. All have been photographed in a natural environment and are real images. Many of my images tell a story, whether the subject matter or process of composition.
All photos captured with OM System.

Aug 16 2011. 2149hrs super bright pass of the ISS. Looked stunning through the twilight blue skies and sporadic cloud cover. I used the corn field as a nice neutral colour foreground subject, lit with few bursts of flash. The line of trees were carefully chosen :-) Captured with Olympus E5 & 8mm fisheye.
August 14 & 15th 2011. I travelled down to the West Somerset coast for the Perseid display, the same coastline that Samuel Taylor Coleridge walked over 200 yrs ago and which inspired meteor ramblings from his famous poem 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner'. If you look at the large version you will note 3 Perseids and 1 other satellite. The bright moon made watching/capturing difficult this year and the very wide angle shot makes for a good composition but lesser meteor detail. Captured with Olympus E5 & 8mm fisheye. August 14 2011. ISS is back over UK evening skies. I travelled down to the north Somerset coast for the Perseid display and took the opportunity of killing 2 birds with one stone :-) Captured with Olympus E5 & 8mm fisheye. Want to know how I capture ISS shots such as this? - http://tinyurl.com/4xdnmc3 Thanks to http://www.meteorwatch.org
